Clarke & Tholomew are proud to be joining forces with Peterborough Environment City Trust in caring for the environment.
" it doesn't matter how big or small you are. Business Envestors made me realise how straightforward going green can be, you just need commitment."
Clarke & Tholomew are committed to reducing their environmental impact and to move towards a more sustainable way of doing business. ![]() 'Billboard Campaign' - Nov 08Nigel Clarke, Technical Director of Clarke & Tholomew, met Hugh Cripps, Chief Executive of Peterborough Environment City Trust, in front of the Clarke & Tholomew environmental billboard at Peterborough station to lend his support and encouragement to our continuing environmental campaign. 'Council Recognition' - Nov 08Christopher Ndubuisi, Climate Change Technical Officer for Peterborough City Council, visited us to discuss how the council can help support our efforts to lower the environmental impact of the entire Cygnet Business Park in which we are based. As part of this he will be joining our steering committee to provide continuing input. Christopher Ndubuisi commented: ‘The implementation of a robust environmental management system is the surest way to account for good environmental stewardship. If only every business in the UK had as much passion as Clarke & Tholomew to go green, the UK would be an oasis of low carbon economy.’ ![]() 'Bags of green ideas' - Oct 08We were delighted to boost our campaign to make Cygnet Park the first Eco Business park in Peterborough by securing highstreet retailer Next's support through it providing a set of recyling bags for each company based on the park. A spokeseman from Next said “Next is very pleased to be able to help reduce the environmental impact of businesses on Cygnet Park by donating our fantastic recycling bags”. 'Bailey Rail comes onboard' - Oct 08We are delighted to be able to announce that Bailey Rail have joined our environmental campaign to make Cygnet Park the first Eco Business park in Peterborough. ![]() 'PECT pet lends support' - Oct 08Even a furry member of the PECT team adds their support to Clarke & Tholomew's environmental campaign! As Nyree Ambarchian, PECT marketing manager, was viewing the Clarke & Tholomew website, her cat decided to 'lend its support' ... or was it just because the laptop was warm?! ![]() 'Raising visibility' - Oct 08This week we reinforced our Sight and Sound Advertising® campaign in support of the environment, by funding a billboard at Peterborough's busy train station. We hope this will encourage others to join us on our environmental journey, as well as highlighting our own intention to become a more sustainable business. ![]() 'Helping our neighbours' - Sept 08Today we are delighted to be able to announce an ambitious project - led by Clarke & Tholomew - to make Cygnet Park, Hampton’s business park, the first Eco Business park in Peterborough. Gavin Hynes, Director at Budworth Hardcastle comments, “We are delighted to be involved in such a worthy project. Every organisation can do their bit for the environment and we are keen to work with all the other companies at Cygnet Park on matters such as recycling, car sharing etc” ![]() Recycling bags 'Recycling bags' - Sept 08Here at Clarke & Tholomew we use recycling bags from a leading UK highstreet fashion retailer, because they are stylish and effective: matching our office decor (specialising in Sight and Sound Advertising®, image is of course important to us). Today we approached them to ask if they would donate a set of bags for each company in the Cygnet Business Park, thereby supporting an important environmental initiative that we are developing: more news soon... 'Our suppliers' - Aug 08Today we spent some time investigating our key suppliers' environmental credentials. We were delighted to find that one media supplier has just achieved ISO14001:2004 (the environmental quality standard that we are striving to achieve), and another has been named one of the UK's Best Green Companies in 2008. ![]() London Road, Peterborough 'Sight and Sound' - Aug 08This week we reinforced our committment to the environment by funding a Sight and Sound Advertising® campaign, starting with a billboard to show us joining forces with Business Envestors to help reduce our environmental impact (displayed at a prime location, near Peterborough city centre, at the crossroads of a busy set of traffic lights). We hope this will encourage others to join us on our environmental journey, as well as highlighting our own intention to become a more sustainable business. 'Encouraging others' - July 08Yesterday our environmental journey was featured in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: good publicity for both us and the environment. Something that we quickly realised when starting on our journey was that improving the sustainability of our own business wasn't enough, and that we needed to encourage other businesses to join us. We are currently thinking about ways to do this, starting at a local level. Not only does improving the sustainability of a business have a moral driver, it can also help reduce costs and raise profile: a win, win, win situation! 'Environmental manual - first steps' - July 08This week we met with Brett Miller from Business Envestors, who we are working with to help us produce our environmental manual. This manual defines the way we implement our environmental policy, and is a significant step forward along our environmental journey. Although this is new to us, with Brett's help the process was very clear and the team are enthused. 'Environmental marketing campaign launch' - July 08Today we sent off the artwork for the printing of a 48 sheet (20 foot) billboard that we are funding to promote our committment to working with Business Envestors: our first steps of 'spreading the word'. 'Becoming a more sustainable business' - July 08Having enlisted the help of Business Envestors, today we put our Environmental Policy in place: a small - but significant - step forward on our 'environmental journey'. This simple document outlines our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and to improve our environmental performance. 'Getting help' - July 08One of the key obstacles to improving the sustainability of our business was finding out information. Luckily for us, help was at hand in the form of Business Envestors, a scheme run by Peterborough Environment City Trust to help businesses deliver more sustainable profits whilst reducing their environmental impact. 'Awareness' - July 08Like many businesses we've always been aware of the environment, but - going through a period of rapid business growth - had struggled to find the time to invest in investigating how to reduce our environmental impact. |
